don’t surrender poem#11

I dreamt of your heart last night,

how it sat outside your chest,

drenched

heavy

exotic

I dreamt of how my jaw cracks when I open my mouth to sing.

I hummed as you hovered from room to room,

Serpent jaw devouring your smile.

Your chest exploded as we spoke,

it couldn’t fathom being calm.

Your denim jacket bloodied,

Your face flushed with arousal.

I crushed the struggle from your laugh lines,

They crumpled,

overwhelmed

now molten in my hands…
